i love life

Here is what has happened in the last 2 weeks:

Last day at Mentors International - April 9
I was not expecting it going into work that day so it was a little shocking but I can't blame them for needing to force a reduction. The economy is just not helping non-profits these days. I have really been needing a change for the past few months so this truly is a blessing. Just so glad we can maintain positive attitudes in enduring this adventure.

April 11 - My birthday!
It was a great day (Sunday's usually are) spending time with family. Fez and I went to Braza Grill the following night and it was yummy! I am such a lucky girl to have friendships with so many people. Thank you all!

Springfest competition
My clogging team competed 2 dances and we won 1st for both of them! I have really enjoyed dancing this year and being part of a team. The girls are so cute and SUCH hard workers! Nationals is in a couple weeks and we are going to kick butt!

Camping
Fez was able to go camping last minute with a mission buddy and his friend to Moab April 17-18. He had a great time hiking around Canyonlands and using out our camping gear. I hope we get more chances to go out this summer.

South Jordan International Days
Worldwide Association of Performing Artists (a.k.a. WWAPA, or ClogAmerica, the folkdance group I am on) is hosting its second annual International Days in August 10-14. Because of the recent events with my job I have lots of free time so I am now helping to plan and organize this event. So much is involved with these kind of events but it is going to be so fun! I will be helping find sponsorships so if you or the company you work for would be interested, please let me know! We'll have groups from China, Algeria or Ghana, Czech Republic, and possibly Haiti coming to perform!

Our washer broke
Having to fish out clothes sitting in a washer full of water, rinse them out in the tub and drag them to the parents to clean was just awesome... ugh. Pitcher by pitcher we emptied out as much water as we could but what was left was just stinky. We finally got it fixed Friday and I am thrilled to be doing laundry tomorrow.

With finals and a trip to Disneyland on the horizon, life just doesn't slow down.
But I love it.

FOUND!!!

Six months ago Fez tried digging for a time capsule he had buried when he was a child
(read about it HERE)
but had no luck finding the treasure.

Well... HE FOUND IT!!!

A neighbor had a metal detector he let us borrow so Fez and his dad went searching yesterday. They had dug all around the area they thought it could be and with the help of the detector decided to try underneath a plant. Good thing because it was there!
(See video below)

The can was pretty corroded.

He put these paper towels in there to soak up the moisture.
It was a pretty good idea because they were pretty soaked
but so was everything else.

After prying it open this is what we found:
a lego car, 2 micro machines, 12 cents, a paper we couldn't read or unfold (possibly a list of the contents), a chinese placemat, and paper with his age and date.

It's kind of hard to read but it says
"11 years old" and " 9/2?/95"
Fez with his treasures.
YAY!
I can only imagine the cute and fun things our kids will do some day.

Note to self: Next time we do a time capsule put it in a ziploc and plastic container.

Wrong Name

A friend posted this on Facebook yesterday and there have been multiple times since watching it that it pops in my mind and I almost burst out laughing. I love this show but it's especially great when they can't make it through.

This is great!

today's thoughts

I love pictures.
They are memories captured in one image
and can bring back emotions hidden deep inside you.

That being said I do not have pictures for this post.
They aren't needed.
I am going to try and do this more often.
It seems like I can't blog without pictures
or a grand event that has happened.

So, here is what has been on my mind lately...

#1- Personal growth. Fez and I made some goals about a month ago and it has been really great to see the little changes. We made personal goals and some as a couple and it has helped our relationship, personally and as a couple. Now, not all of the goals were achieved 100% but it has helped my thinking of the person I want to be and the things I do. I can be a pretty lazy person but I do not like to and try not to be. But I can bite off more than I can chew at times. It's all about balance.

#2- I love the gospel. I love the scriptures. I love listening to church music any time of day. I love General Conference and the encouragement I receive from it. I love that on low days I can read my scriptures, say a prayer, and know I am heard and watched over. I love the primary children I get to teach every Sunday and the lessons they teach me. I love the hope that comes from knowing our Lord and Savior died for us so that we can go through all our trials to lean on him for care and comfort and live with him again.

#3- Gratitude. My cute mom gave an FHE lesson a while back about having an Attitude of Gratitude and gave all us kids a book to write in every night something we're grateful for that day. No matter what is going on in your life, how hard it and trying it is, there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Something. I have enjoyed searching my life and the days events to think of things I am grateful for. It is humbling.

#4- Preparing for the future. I have loved being a wife and try daily to better myself in this role. I fall short many times but I am grateful for a husband who reassures me I'm doing a good job. Am I ready to be a mother? Not yet. But I know the day will come I will have this amazing opportunity to love, nuture, and teach my little children the wonderful things of the world and the gospel. I have much to do to better prepare myself for this day.

#5- Eating healthier. I. Love. Candy. Desserts. Ice Cream. Chocolate. This will be a hard one to conquer.

There are probably a billion other things I could write but this is good for now :)
